By Kasthuri

Hello!

The Body Shop recently added a new product to its bestselling Vitamin E range – the new Vitamin E Overnight Serum In Oil (S$42.90).

Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil is a technical innovation that combines the power of a serum with the indulgence of an oil to replenish and recharge skin with moisture overnight

It is formulated to replenish and recharge skin for a well-rested, radiant complexion. According to The Body Shop, they created the serum-in-oil texture as a serum can deliver strong skincare enhancements to a normal skincare regime but when blended with a potent combination of skin-loving oils, the result is a product that delivers even greater skincare benefits with a more pleasurable and absorbing texture.

Here is a snapshot of The Body Shop’s findings on test panel of 126 women who tried out the Vitamin E Serum-In-Oil

The star ingredient in the Vitamin E Serum-In-Oil is Wheatgerm Oil – wheatgerm is the nutrient-rich core of the wheat seed.

In addition to wheatgerm oil, the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil contains other Community Fair-Trade sourced oils such as Jojoba, Sunflower, Soya, Sesame and Marula, making it a powerpacked formula. One of my favorite things about brands like The Body Shop (and others like Clarins and L’Occitane) is their committment to a sustainable development business ethic, where Community Fair Trade, biodynamism and eco-consciousness figure strongly. As a consumer, you are purchasing not just a product but contributing to society-at-large.

The Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil is a permanent product in the Vitamin E range but can be easily integrated into any skincare regime.

I love the Vitamin E range for one reason – the scent. It is one of the few product ranges that comes close to the gorgeous scent of Johnson and Johnson’s Baby Oil and Lotion which I absolutely adore. To me, that and baby powder scents are the most comforting of all scents. The Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil is no different – the same pleasing scent.

The Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil is packaged in a pink opaque glass bottle and fitted with a dropper. I like this feature because it allows me to control the amount of product I dispense.

And trust me, with this texture, you’d definitely want more control – the serum-in-oil has the texture of a very light, fluid oil. The runny texture is great for spreading and absorbing easily into skin.

Here are some suggestions from The Body Shop on how you can use the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil:

  1. Apply after cleansing and toning, on its own as part of your night time regime.
  2. Mix with a night cream. Scoop out a small amount of your night cream into the palm of your hand. Gently blend together with a few drops of your Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil and apply over the face.
  3. Use occasionally as a boosting treatment
  4. Apply to targeted areas to combat dryness

I know this is a skincare product but I’ll admit something – I LOVE using this on my limbs. My arms and legs tend to get dry (my legs especially can get a little scaly) with depilation and exposure to the sun. I like to exfoliate my skin with a loofah or an exfoliating skin sponge (or The Body Shop’s scrubby gloves which I’m currently out of) in the shower. After patting dry, I apply a couple of drops of the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil on my arms and legs and massage it in. I do this a couple of times a week just before bed and scaly limbs no more! This is my most favorite way to use the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil. A plus - the scent relaxes me, helping me sleep better.

If you have the opportunity, check this out – face oils are really in vogue at the moment and several brands are releasing potent formulas. These face oils (I like the ones from Aesop and Clarins and I’m trialing another from Jurlique soon) often have a very emollient, light texture and absorb into skin very fast, leaving no trace of grease behind – just soft, hydrated skin. This assurance coming from me – an oily-skinned person with an aversion to any kind of product residue.  The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil, with its nourishing formula and cozy scent makes this one of the nicest products I’ve tried from the brand in a while. Try it and you might love it too.

Take Care and Thanks for stopping by!
