The best indoor snow slopes in the UK

Now we know that little compares to hitting the slopes of France, Italy, Austria or further afield but unfortunately heading to the snow just doesn’t fall in to every family’s budget. With so many great indoor ski slopes dotted around the UK and a range of wonderful hotel deals to be had, why not take the eco-friendly option and hit the slopes right here in the UK. Here is a run-down of four of the UK’s most impressive indoor ski slopes.

Sno!Zone Milton Keynes

Although it’s not quite The Alps, the Milton Keynes snow dome is a firm favorite with those snow fanatics who want to feel the exhilaration of hitting the slopes without the worry of breaking the bank.

There is a 170m long main slope covered in over 1500 tonnes of glorious fresh snow. For those novices amongst you, there are dedicated lesson slopes and a team of fully qualified instructors on hand to teach you how to carve up the slopes with the best of them. If you should tire of the snow, why not try your hand at indoor skydiving, rock climbing, bowling or the 16-screen cinema when those muscles are screaming out for some R & R.

Tamworth Snow Dome

With real snow all year round and a great location in the center of the country, this spot is a firm favorite for skiers and snowboarders who are keen to get some time in on the 170m slope. In addition, there are two Snow Academy areas. This is a great place to get some tuition from their friendly team of qualified instructors. An added bonus which will be particularly attractive for those who are watching the pennies is that all equipment is provided free of charge.

Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead

Boasting the accolade of having the closest real snow to London, this attraction in Hertfordshire could be a perfect day trip from the city or combined with a trip to the capital for those coming from further afield. As Britain’s newest indoor skiing, snowboarding and snow sports destination, the Snow Centre is designed to give visitors a real taste of Alpine conditions on their 160m slope. People of all standards are welcomed and catered to and there are discounted tickets and group discounts to be snapped up all year round.

Chill Factor, Trafford, Manchester

Chill Factor’s 180m, real snow slope is just perfect for learners or those looking to hone their skills in a fun and friendly environment. There are taster lessons for those who are new to the snow or more specific classes including Rider Development Sessions, Parallel and Carving Development lessons for those of you who have a little bit of experience under your belts. The list of coaching options here is extensive with anything from Freestyle coaching lessons to Core-tions camps and private lessons. If this all sounds a little too much like hard work, why not unwind with a wander around the shops or with a nice meal on the centres very own Alpine Street.
