The Bagless Life

By Holliegalloway @holliegalloway

You know what’s great? Not carrying a bag.

Girls especially (but not only) almost always tend to carry a bag, we seem to think we need a bag and we need all this stuff everywhere we go so we always take one. And if you use the same bag multiple days in a row, said bag accumulates more and more stuff that you just end up lugging around for no reason. The bigger the bag the more unnecessary things we end up carrying. One strange example of this came when I was at work the other day and my boss was rooting through her bag and she discovered 3 tubes of toothpaste in it, weird stuff just ends up in there, right? Have a look in your bag now, do you need everything you’re carrying or are you wondering how the hell that got in there? Don’t get me wrong, I think bags are lovely of course, I have some real nice bags, I pine after luxury bags, I’d actually sell everything to own this bag:

But recently whenever I get the opportunity to ditch the bag, I will, and it is totally liberating, I actually love it. It’s funny how a bag is directly representative of metaphorical baggage. When you don’t carry a bag it’s less stress, less weight, less to worry about. My main problem is that I don’t own enough clothes with pockets so I can’t do it all the time but when the outfit is right and I can comfortably ditch the bag and only carry the absolute essentials, I definitely will. Maybe it’s the fact that I always carry one and it’s a total novelty to be free of it…whatever it is, I like it a lot. And I highly recommend it to all of you, try ditching the bag for a couple days – especially if you’re a jeans/trousers person and basically always have pockets – and just feel the freedom!
