The Abrams Visit Mills Hardware in Hamilton

Posted on the 22 May 2017 by Hendrik Pape @soundcheckblg

We caught up with The Abrams on Thursday May 11th at Mills Hardware in Hamilton. It was one of our first times covering a show at this venue, and we definitely hope it won't be our last. The Abrams continue to promote their self titled EP which was released last last year.

For the Hamilton show John and James had local artist Eric Brandon open for them and man did he ever knock the socks off everyone. Eric Brandon is a Hamilton boy who is just emerging into the music scene. He shocked everyone in the house with his soulful, raspy country voice.

Eric has a way with words and his music, his lyrics have you gripping to every word he sings and you find yourself swaying in your chair to the soft beat of his music. A true treat from Eric's set was that all of the music he performed was all original that he wrote himself. Eric Brandon is a name to watch for we believe he is going places and we can't wait to catch up with him again.

Now The Abrams. It was a packed house for the boys and when they hit that stage everyone was on their feet cheering and singing along to every word of their music. They treated the audience to originals like "Tin Man", "Champion", "Spend your Life With Me" and to covers like "Smile", "Man of Constant Sorrow" and, of course, a crowd favorite "Devil Went Down to Georgia".

The Abrams capped off the night with "Fine", I'm unsure who sang louder the Abrams or the crowd. The Abrams have a lot going for them, they're such amazing songwriters and musicians and they deserve every moment in the spotlight. Its always a treat when they're in town.

John and James are jetting off overseas for a few months of shows in Israel and the UK before returning home to Canada where you can catch them at Boots and Hearts in August. For full tour dates visit www.theabramsmusic.com

I founded Sound Check Entertainment in 2010 to help promote festivals and emerging artists from across Canada and the world! I now act as festivals liaison, manage media relations and, of course, cover events in the National Capital region. I'm also a diehard Habs fan but Sens fans fear not; as long as they aren't playing against my Habs I cheer just as loud for the Sens.
