best travel apps for a stress-free vacation

That’s why you need these 7 travel apps – they will put the zen back into your vacation planning! I use them to organize my own chaos on every trip!

Tripverse helps you plan your ultimate vacation and create a custom itinerary.  You can add your must-see sights, must-eat restaurants and even accommodation, along with the addresses for easy reference. I also love the Popular Locations featured powered by FourSquare, which makes it easy to find recommendations.  For example, on my upcoming Adventure Trip to Canada, I found a breakfast spot on Tripverse and added it to my itinerary. Although I’ve lived in Calgary, I haven’t lived there for 5 years and restaurants change. I’ve got a lot happening on this upcoming trip and Tripverse helps me keep it organized.  I’ve made my trips public, to help you with your travel planning, check them out here. I’ve also used the Private Notes section, where I’ve made notes about which friends I’m meeting – information that is really useful to me, but that I don’t want made public. Best of all is that it’s all accessible offline!

2)Booking.com: Best Travel App for Booking Accommodation

Booking.com is my go-to app for booking accommodation.  There are extensive reviews and a wide selection of properties, but what I love most about Booking.com is the pay later feature and flexible cancellation policy available on many of the properties.

3) TripIt: Best App for Trip Planning & Trip Organization

TripIt makes even the most unorganized person seem organized. I used to be up late the night before a trip pouring through emails trying to find the confirmations for flights, hotels and car rentals – some of which had been booked months ago. Not an ideal way to start a vacation! With TripIt you can forward your email confirmations for flights, hotels, car rentals, event tickets, etc. and TripIt will do the rest! All your information is accessible offline!

4) Yelp: Best App for Finding the Local Hot Spots

Yelp provides crowd sourced reviews on local businesses.  I use it on a weekly basis to find new cafes in Munich – I’m a little obsessed with cafes, but it’s also a great app to use when traveling to find restaurants, cafes, night-clubs, places that locals actually go to, which usually aren’t the same places recommended to tourists. Using Yelp makes me feel like I have my finger on the pulse of the place I’m visiting.

5) Trover: Best App for Trip Inspiration

I use Trover mainly for trip inspiration and pre-trip planning.  For example, if you know you want a beach holiday, you can search for that, or if you are visiting a specific place, you can also search by destination. It’s like Instagram for travellers and my travel bucket list gets longer every time I use it!

6)UMapped: Best Travel App for Group Travel

UMapped is a great travel app when you’re traveling with other people.  It allows you to sync photos,  notes, videos, and  itinerary ideas with the people you’re traveling with. Never again will you have to ask someone Can you send me that photo? It can also be used offline.

best travel app for currency conversion

7)OANDA Currency Converter: Great Currency Conversion App When Travelling

Math is not my strong suit, and when I’m traveling, I want to relax, not struggle to figure out whether the steak is worth 100 Namibian dollars (hint:  it probably is, it’s only €7.29!) OANDA Currency Converter stands out from other currency conversion apps because it can be used offline and because it allows you to choose the commission rate, so you can see exactly what you’re getting for your money!

Use these travel apps and you’ll take the stress out of vacation planning! By the time you arrive, you’ll already be relaxed…and ready for a cocktail on  the beach, naturally one that you found on one of these great travel apps!

Note: This post was brought to you by TripVerse.  All opinions are my own and all apps mentioned are ones that I use regularly.
