Texas Man Kills His Brother and Gets Away with Manslaughter

Corpus Christi Police said a man accidentally shot and killed his younger brother Sunday night while drawing the gun from its holster. Police said it happened in a back apartment behind a home in the 3800 block of Reynosa Street just after 11:00 p.m. They said the 24-year-old man had gotten together with his 16-year-old brother to watch a television show, when the older brother removed his 9 mm handgun from its holster. Police said the gun went off, striking the younger brother in the chest one time. He was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital, but later died. The mother of the two men was at the home at the time of the shooting, but was not hurt. Police are still investigating, but at this time, no arrests have been made. They said the shooting appears to be accidental.
