Teenage Bottlerocket “Done With Love”

Posted on the 08 March 2013 by Calvinthedog

Just discovered these guys. I like them a lot! Sounds like an updated version of 1980′s So Cal punk rock like the Descendants.

They formed in Laramie, Wyoming (No way!) in 2001. Influences include Green Day and The Ramones.

Technically, they are referred to as Pop Punk. Pop punk emerged in 1974 with The Ramones. Later bands included The Jam, Generation X and The Buzzcocks. So Cal band Bad Religion helped lay the groundwork for this movement also.

In the early 80′s, punk bands like The Vandals, The Descendants, Social Distortion, Agent Orange and T.S.O.L. started being referred to by this moniker.

It hit its stride around 1994-1996 with Green Day and The Offspring achieving strong mainstream success. It peaked from 1999-2005, but I know nothing about the big bands of that era. From 2005-present, emo punk has shown up, a fusion of emo and pop punk. Not familiar with any of the bands of that era either, sorry. From about 1994-on, I am pretty bad dead to rock and roll music. Sorry kids!

This is from the most recent 2012 album, Freak Out! Nice to see some great punk rock music is still being made nowadays.
