New Zealand ex-pat Tamaryn celebrated the release of her dreamy new LP Cranekiss (out now on Mexican Summer) with a dazzling performance at (Le) Poisson Rouge.  The seductive songstress brought along a new band and an updated sound — more dream pop than shoegaze — that freed her to take the mic off the stand and vamp about the stage on several songs, including the Cocteau Twins-esque title track and sexy single “Put Your Hands All Over Me”.  At just eight tracks, the setlist left us wanting more, but enchanted all the same.

Ex-Friends frontwoman Samantha Urbani opened with a selection of 80s-leaning dance pop jams, including the celebrated single “1 2 3 4” and a bouncy cover of Boston’s “More Than A Feeling”.  Frequent collaborator and paramour Dev Hynes, who seems to be everywhere all the time, was surprisingly absent, but that didn’t stop Urbani from bringing the heat.
