Taking A Look At: Eye Of Horus Cosmetics

By Triedandtestedblogger @triedtestedblog

If you’re a long time reader of the blog, you would know just how much I am a fan of Eye of Horus. The Australian brand produces beautiful products in a stunning range of shades using formulas based on those used in Ancient Egypt, including organic Moringa Oil.

The Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara was one of the first products I tried from the brand and to this day, it is one of my all time favorite mascaras. Along with a deep black formula that stays in place all day, it’s a fabulous all in one that lengthens, volumises and holds a curl well without being too subtle or dramatic, making it perfect to use everyday or for a special occasion. As a contact lens wearer, my eyes can become quite tired at the end of a long day and some mascaras can exacerbate this but this product’s formula works amazingly well for sensitive eyes. The Dual Brow Perfect comes in three shades and offers a twist up wax pencil and a brow gel. The wax pencil’s formula is similar to that in the Ultimate Brow Define but in this product, it is wider and angled, allowing you to achieve really natural, hair-like strokes. The wax provides the perfect amount of colour, leaving your brows looking naturally shaped and fuller. Having to apply a bit of pressure to the pencil means you can control and precisely apply the color to the brow, making sure the result doesn’t look muddy or too intense. A great 2 in 1, the product also features a brow gel that not only helps disperse the wax throughout the brow but also sets the hairs and colour, making sure they stay in place all day. The gel is light in formula, ensuring your brows dont set hard or look wet and stuck down with the small spoolie ensuring you coat every brow hair whilst adding texture.

The Goddess Eye Pencils are arguably the best kohl eyeliners on the market! Ranging in shades from the classic black and white to blues, greens and purple, the formula is creamy, highly pigmented (opaque) and lasts all day once set. The pencils glide onto the skin beautifully without the need for excessive force, allowing you to achieve a thin line of color at the base of the lashes or a thick wing, depending on which look you’re going for. A sponge smudger is attached to the end of the pencils, allowing you to easily buff and smudge the product on the eyelids, though I do still prefer to use a small brush instead as it allows me to gain a bit more control.  Once applied, you have the opportunity to buff it out before it sets and once it does, it will last all day without any smudging or flaking. When used on the waterline, it lasts really well compared to its competitors (my top tip is to make sure your waterline is dry before applying the product). For swatches, click here.

Eye of Horus products are available from their website and is now also available from Activeskin.
