[SWATCH] L'Oreal Project Runway The Queen's Gaze

By Superbijinup @superbijinup
Hi everyone!

Sorry it's been a while since our last blog post but I seemed to have suffered an allergic reaction of some sort to either something I ate or a lip product that I've been testing so I've been unable to do many swatches or face of the days T_T

It's not very fun when your lips can't really take any sort of product on it without itching like a mother :( I will get the lipstick swatches from the Project Runway line up and running in the next couple of days.  Hopefully my lips will be better by then :\

In any case, I was able to swatch this palette the other day and finally am doing a blogpost to show you all! This quad is from the Queen's line and all of the colors associated with this line are very regal looking and more than likely colors that I would use myself.  The eyeshadow quad is very dark and sultry looking with silvers and purple.

As a recap, here is the information on the full four lines from the Project Runway Fall series:
Project Runway comes out with four different lines each time and each line has a different theme that revolves around a color scheme.  This year they came out with the following themes:
  • The Enchanted Queen (for a dark and dramatic look)
  • The Seductive Temptress (for an unexpected, almost venomous look)
  • The Wise Mystic (for a futuristic look)
  • The Artsy Muse (for a playful and light-hearted look).
I would definitely say that these colors are more suited for night time events and great for a smokey eye look!  They definitely achieved their objective with this particular quad.

Colors This is a very silvery, smokey based look with a royal sparkly purple to balance it all out.  This is definitely a very sultry look which is exactly what they were attempting to create with the line.

Packaging

There's really not much to say about the packaging.  It's basic and clicks shut rather snugly which is good for traveling.  The foam/sponge applicator isn't that great but I'm sure that you will more than likely bring eyeshadow brushes with you should you go on a trip.

Swatches
I was slightly more impressed with the formula of this palette in comparison to the other palette I had swatched previously but the purple really had a hard time showing up on the skin.  The other silvers were beautiful and translated very well onto the skin into an eye look.  As you can see based on the swatches, it was rather difficult to see the complexity of the purple.

Eyes
I had a very difficult time creating this look with just the four colors in this palette.  It really needed some sort of neutral colors to help tone down the silveryness to the look.  The look I initially created wasn't exactly to my liking so I'm not going to post it.  But based on the pictures below, you can really see the complexity of the purple which is essentially the highlight of this palette.

Thoughts
Overall, I did like the palette and the colors included in the palette but for the price, I don't believe that it's worth it to get it by itself.  I would definitely get this if you're into collecting limited edition palettes and if you like smokey shadows.  This isn't a palette that I could possibly recommend purchasing by itself.  If you don't have any other palettes to balance this look out, it could possibly be a little bit difficult to use even for a night look.  All of the silver shadows can be easily  duped but I'm not entirely sure about the purple.
