Survey Shows Majority of the UK Workforce Support Banning the Use of Facebook and Twitter While at Work

Over 60% of british employees think that usage of social media sites needs to be forbidden in the offices, based on a new study from UK employment site, reed.co.uk.

The study of 4,245 employees around the UK unveiled that only 1 in 3 workers make use of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or alternative social networking sites while working.

Nonetheless, for quite a few jobs, using social media sites became a standard feature of work. Nearly half of these jobs are in Marketing and PR take advantage of the social networking each day, as opposed to only a one fourth of Financial sector employees.

Then when in involves “following” someone on Twitter or updating Facebook status, smart phones are the leading device: up to two thirds of UK workers prefer to use their mobile phone over a work laptop or computer.

The study also pointed out that around 25% of companies do not allow workers from surfing social media sites while at work. 35% of companies allow full access and the rest 40% allow access but only for work reasons.
