Having played numerous times around town, Brooklyn’s Sunflower Bean finally played a headlining, sold out show at Bowery on Thursday. With support from brilliant local bands Honduras and Future Punx, the line-up couldn’t get any more exciting. The crowd was revved up and ready to dance the night away.

The band played songs off their impressive debut Human Ceremony, which was released less than a month ago. Their enthusiastic and primal energy on stage was contagious, and when the crowd could not longer contain the excitement, Julia Cumming (the bassist) got down on the floor and played in the middle of the room — everyone went mental.

It was a great night of local music, drinks and laughs. Sunflower Bean have room to grow, but their first record and headlining performance demonstrate that they’re definitely a band to have on your radar.
