It’s finally that blissful moment in January where we all realize that we can in fact slow down - just a touch - and take stock of our year so far. I don’t know about you but I’ve been on a crazy schedule these past two or three weeks and it wasn’t until I finally shared this post earlier in the week that I slowed down a little and reminded myself that burning out isn’t a great start to the year. Rather, I’m enjoying giving myself an extra 10 minutes to fully understand what I’m trying to do and achieve (whether that’s short-term or long term; i.e. making a cup of tea/coffee or conquering the world) instead of haring off and getting myself in a muddle.
一. I started Barrecore this week and it’s honestly all I’ve been talking about. And I can confirm it’s already the best decision I’ve made this year! Barrecore is a fusion workout class of ballet elements, yoga, pilates and body conditioning. It’s great for any level and I was totally impressed by my first class - that shake and burn though! The class pretty much has you doing a warm-up (of course) before dancing your way through a routine. The routine itself works on your waist down: repetition of moves and poising yourself on your toes/off-heel does something insane to your calves, legs and seat, I'll tell you that. Nicol has several posts on her blog if you fancy a little more reading. I literally can’t wait for my next class and I’ve already been bitten by the new-workout-class-let-me-buy-all-the-things bug. Perhaps I’ll share a fitness haul soon?
二. After a busy week of juggling freelance work, puppy duties, running Honey + Chai and the blog, I was more than excited to head out for a coffee afternoon with my girl Ella. I’m rarely one to socialise but every time I meet up with Ella, we could win awards for the amount that we chatter away about! We had lunch at Granger & Co. before taking a wander around Seven Dials to gossip, swap stories about boys, have the obligatory Girl Boss breakdown/motivator session and shoot outfit photos. Nailed it.
三. I also hung out with the wonderful Annabelle this week! We headed to Hozi for dinner (awesome, authentic Korean restaurant in Holborn, London) and, again, wittered 3 hours away gossiping, sharing K-pop stories and having a good ol’ catch-up. I can’t believe the last time I saw her, we were both living in Hong Kong!
四. My weekend has been pretty damn great. It always surprises me when people ask me how my weekend was and I can easily tell them ‘great!’ and yet can hardly pinpoint anything of note that I’ve done. And that to me, is the best sort of weekend - where plans are unplanned and little moments of joy flow from one to the other. Harvey and I had another anime marathon - we’re watching Mirai Nikki! - before making the Harissa Halloumi Sandwich with Carrot Slaw from our Gousto box this week. I signed up for a few boxes last weekend and am truly impressed so far.
五. As you read this post, I’ll be over at Lily’s place in London for the annual Dream Team Indoor Picnic! This one is for a number of exciting occasions and I can’t wait to chow down on good food and swap gossip with my best girls.
