This sign was in the window of our local pharmacy, and announces the dates of their annual summer vacation: from 26 July till 24 August. Every arrondissement has a pharmacie de garde, in other words, there is always one open in each arrondissement at all times. So there must be a lot of arrangements for these pharmacists to take one month off.
Just after Bastille Day, the real holidays in Paris begin and the town empties out. People take advantage of the extra days of the holiday to add to their weeks of vacation, which to an American are astonishingly long. I have learned to love it, though! I'm off to the States until the end of August myself.
