Summer Scarves to Keep Warm on Hot Days

With such a temperature variance in the summer it's important to be prepared, like a boy scout, with layers that can keep you warm when it is hot outside but freezing inside as well as for those cool evenings after the sun goes down. There certainly are quite a few solutions, which you can check out here, but today I want to talk about summer scarves.

Summer Scarves are an easy solution because they are simple to pack, typically wrinkle free, and can add some pop to an outfit. You can wind them around your neck, wear them as a shawl and tie them an endless amount of ways. If you are looking to add some summer scarves to your wardrobe, check out these styles and how I paired them with outfits. Be sure to take a look at additional styles at the end of the post.

What I love about printed scarves is they can be wonderful road maps for color combining. Take, for example, how I used this scarf from Echo Design that I styled with this sheath from BOSS Hugo Boss. Most wouldn't consider pairing coral with purple, but from the scarf you can see that it works. I added this purple bag from Cole Haan to further play on this combination. It's a lot of color, so I kept the shoes simple using these nude pumps from Brian Atwood. The outfit is finished with a link bracelet from Ann Taylor and coral Earrings from Stella & Dot.

With an all neutral outfit, you can add any color summer scarves you want to the look. In the outfit above, I added this soft coral scarf from Nordstrom to this monochromatic look of a sleeveless top from Boden, wide leg cropped pants from Theory and super comfortable flat slip-ons from Frye. I accessorized the outfit simply with a pair of hoop earrings and straw tote from Cole Haan.

With shorts, summer scarves can be a really nice pairing. You may not want to lug a cardigan or jacket around and you can just place your scarf in your bag or even tie it to the strap. This way you have coverage when you need it and can easily stow it away when you don't. In the outfit above, I added this scarf from J. Crew to a pair of white shorts from Vince Camuto and green t-shirt that I accessorized with a casual blue Baggallini Bag, white drop earrings and Kork-Ease Wedges.
