Stylish Ways to Stay Sweat Free in Hot Weather

This past weekend was HOT. If you live in North America you probably experienced the heat dome which brought record temperatures to most of the country. As luck would have it, this past weekend was our planned visit with my eight year old niece, Avery, who had been beyond excited to spend a few days with her Aunt Bebe (that's me) and Uncle Frank. This summer we are hosting my two nieces and nephew for separate special weekends. We had my nephew, Evan, with us a few weeks ago and my other niece, Morgan, will be here in two weeks.

Preparing for weather in the high 90's, I had to improvise our plans which originally included a day at Brooklyn Bridge Park to go rollerskating, visit the carousel, and more. Instead, we chose indoor friendly, sweat free, activities like painting pottery, going to the Brooklyn Children's Museum and kept outdoor time to short bursts and after the sun went down. Thankfully, Avery didn't mind what we did.

I have to share a few photos of our time with Avery this weekend because, trying desperately not to be bias, she is a spunky spitfire who is beyond cute, funny, sensitive, considerate and loving. She hasn't been gone 24 hours and I am already missing her.

Of course, I can only credit my sister and brother-in-law for creating not one, but three exceptional children. My husband and I get the simple pleasure of enjoying them and spoiling them terribly.

Despite spending limited time outdoors this weekend, it was still hot and the three of us came home pretty sweaty and disgusting. During these times it's hard to really concern oneself with what to wear. It's all about keeping cool, not ruining your clothing and avoiding dastardly things like thigh rub and pit stains. That said, I thought I'd make some suggestions on stylish ways to stay sweat free in hot weather. Take a look at these ten solutions.

I don't know about you, but one of the areas I sweat, mainly because of my 34G mega chest, is under my boobs. It's so gross when I take off my bra and it is actually wet. Blech! So I quite like the idea of the Wick'Em Sensitive-Skin Bra Liner that is moisture wicking, absorbent, latex and dye free and will keep you, your clothes and bra dry. Simply insert this liner between your bra and your skin.

Admittedly, these I haven't tried yet, but if you have ever found yourself with pit-stains, particularly on precious fabrics like silk, Garment Guard Disposable Underarm Shields might be worth considering. Made from breathable cotton, the disposable discs adhere to the inside of clothing. This creates a barrier between the underarm and the clothing, keeping clothes cleaner and stain-free! You can use them to prevent yellowing and wet marks under the arms of your clothing while also cutting down on expensive dry cleaning.

It's likely you have passed this product in the drugstore, saw the word Monistat, and didn't realized what it was. Monistat, a name often connected to the treatment of yeast infections, makes this amazing chafing relief powder gel that a friend of mine swears by for the dreaded thigh rub. It provides on-the-go daily prevention and relief from chafing and irritation of skin in intimate, delicate areas like the inner thigh, bikini area, under arms and breasts. Made especially for women, the exclusive Powder-Gel formula combines the protective benefits of lotion and powder by forming a silky, breathable moisture control barrier to fight friction. Delicate skin feels healthy and protected from uncomfortable irritation caused by moisture, heat, movement and shaving. Also helps reduce the appearance of redness that can develop after shaving or waxing the bikini area. Works with just one application and is gentle enough to use every day.

A few years ago, I was introduced to Jockey Skimmies Cooling Slipshorts when I was asked to review them. I loved them then and I love them now. They don't necessarily suck you in, but the silky smooth fabric is specially designed to regulate body temperature to keep you cool and comfortable while gliding under fabric to leave you line-free. The long-lenth style underwear features a cotton gusset to prevent that horrible thigh chafing and wider leg bands offer a stay-put fit. If I am wearing a dress or skirt I am wearing my Skimmies underneath.

Have you ever been out and about and found yourself with that "not so fresh feeling"? Okay, I'm not talking about that no so fresh feeling. I'm referring to those times when you know you could use a shower or at least a swipe of deodorant and don't have access to any. Perhaps it's not considered ladylike to think that women can get funky, but we can. Having some packets of DERMAdoctor's MED e TATE Antiperspirant Wipes will keep you dry and confident.

Unless I am going to the gym I don't wear socks. And, really, in the summer, who wear them? But it's hot, shoes can get stinky, feet sweat, and so on. You could try wearing those little ped socks, but, often those show and they aren't always sweat-free. If you prefer to go sockless, like me, take a look at Foot Petals Sock-Free Saviors. They have DRI comfort moisture management system built into terry cloth padding to keep feet cool and dry, Microban anti-microbial protection that won't rub, wear, or wash away and PORON® cushioning that absorbs shock for all-day comfort.

I didn't even know they made wickable underwear, but they do! Under Armour, for example, makes hipster and thong styles in quick drying fabrics that have anti-microbial properties. Perfect for super hot days.

Can you imagine having to wear shapewear on a super hot day? As tortuous as the idea sounds, it's possible that a day will come where you just might have to suck it during a heatwave. Ugh, the horror!!! Well, thankfully, Maidenform makes a wear your own bra torsette made of moisture wicking fabric. Granted, it won't be the coolest thing you have ever put on your body, but it's better than wearing shapewear that doesn't wick sweat away.

Similar to the Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel, but with a much funnier name, Anti Monkey Butt Lady Anti Friction Powder is specially formulated satiny smooth powder designed to minimize the frictional discomfort that women often experience when using exercise equipment, running, driving, cycling or just walking. Its unique ingredients work quickly to absorb sweat and provide cooling effective relief of irritation on the inner thighs and other areas of the skin prone to rubbing.

I can't think of any better feeling in the summer than taking a cool shower after a long hot day. To feel clean after being all grimy and sweaty. Ahhhh. Yes, what you wear and and use to stay sweat free is important, but, in order to stay cool and refreshed, starting with the right soap is also important. Grandma's Baking Soda Soap is made with a lye soap base and baking soda added in to create a pure soap that deodorizes naturally leaving skin fresh, squeaky clean, soft and supple. No detergents, dyes or fragrance to irritate sensitive skin. You can also check out their After Workout Soap too.

It is virtually impossible to stay sweat free during a heatwave, but these ten little tips will help you at least make it more bearable. Stay cool everyone!
