STYLE: Look #33 – Checks and Balances

By Jsleigh14 @jsleigh14

Vancouver’s been looking gloomy lately, but the perk to that is that we can now get to wear more layers. As I was meeting my friend for a fine lunch at Joe Fortes , I decided to put on a shirt and tie paired with my favorite blazer. This plaid blazer is the epitome of preppy chic and reminds me of something designed by the amazing Alexander McQueen. This look features a burgundy on blue color scheme that I’ve been liking because it’s appealing in an unexpected way.

I’m wearing:

Blazer – Zara Fall ’11 (similar from Banana Republic)
Shirt – Banana Republic Summer ’10
Tie – Forever 21 (similar from Express)
Pants – Banana Republic Fall ’10
Shoes - Banana Republic Fall ’12 (also styled here)

During the last few months of the year I like to swap out my chinos for corduroys. It’s a thicker fabric for the colder weather and its texture provides a neat subtle detail to any look. To avoid looking like you’re wearing grandpa’s pants, opt for cords that have a slim-straight fit.
