Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl Recipe

By Jessicavenoy @lovelyjesscuh
Sooo if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm going through quite the smoothie loving frenzy as of late. Maybe it has to do with the fact that it's basically 100 degrees here already OR that I am actually home during the day now (aka access to my blender whenever - praise hands!)...oh how I love you summer!
This smoothie bowl can totally be sipped on out of a cup as a regular smoothie, too - I've had it both ways. It's so creamy and fresh tasting and it really hits my sweet tooth!
Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl Recipe
What You'll Need:

Base:
  • 2 ounces of chopped strawberries
  • 1/2 of a frozen banana
  • 1 teaspoon of acai powder (I use this one)
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (I use this one)
  • 4 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I use this one)
  • 1-2 ounces of water
  • Handful of ice
Toppings:
  • Unsweetened, shredded coconut flakes
  • Cacao nibs (I use this one)
  • Chia seeds (I use this one)
  • Nut butter of choice

Blend all of the ingredients together and top with your favorite toppings. If you want a thicker base, add more ice and less water. If you want a thinner base, add less ice and more water.
I don't know what you think, but I am strong believer in toppings being the best part of a smoothie bowl. I honestly plan my bowls around what toppings I have... #TeamToppings!
I've also been trying to incorporate more "superfoods" into my diet in efforts to help my skin and cognitive function. The superfoods in today's recipe are: acai powder, chia seeds, and cacao nibs. Healthy body, healthy mind, healthy spirit is my goal :)
Let me know if you try out this recipe! I'd also love to hear any smoothie recipes that you've been loving lately...I'm always up for trying new ones!
