Stage 14 Is Another Strong Ride For Race Leader Nibali

The same riders who showed they were strong in the mountains in stage 13, did so again in stage 14. About 9 kilometers from the finish line, Rafal Majka of Poland (who finished second yesterday) took off on a breakaway. The race leaders didn't chase him down because he was no danger to them (being over an hour and a half off the overall lead), so he was able to claim his first Tour de France stage victory. Race leader, Vincenzo Nibali of Italy, showed his strength by staying with the top riders until about 4 kilometers from the finish -- and then took off to finish in second place, and extend his overall lead on his closest competitors. Jean-Christophe Peraud of France finished in third.
Stage 15 descends from the mountains, and will probably be another stage for the Tour's sprinters since there are no tough climbs in this stage. Here are the current standings:
