Spotlight On: Suzanne Felsen

By Raymondleejewelers @raymondleejwlrs

Suzanne Felsen began her career as a jewelry designer far before she ever looked through a loupe. Like many of today’s most preeminent jewelry designers, her work is inspired by travel experience she gained early in life. A Los Angeles native, Felsen traveled to India and Europe with her family, who worked in the arts. It’s no surprise that Suzanne also found herself drawn to creating beauty.

SHe was most inspired by the art and architecture of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. Her penchant for picking unusual and beautiful gemstones can be credited to her studies at GIA and Parsons. Natural beauty can not be faked. However, it can be complimented by a distinguishing choice in jewelry. Sophisticated statements are made with gold, diamonds and precious stones. Diamonds are a classic choice and really pop when inlaid on gold and silver rings, pendants and earrings. Black diamonds hint at a particular mystery and depth to your personality.

Suzanne’s signature style revolves around the gems first. The brighter, rarer and more exquisite the better. She hand selects each gem she works with to perfect her vibrant and unique looks. The lines of her pieces are more classic than the framework around fellow opal lover Irene Nuewirth. Her color choices are just as bold, but more delicate, than candy-colored jewels of Hemmerle.

Suzanne’s incredible designs can be found at her boutique on Melrose in LA or at her Santa Monica boutique. And, for even more fabulous shopping, some pieces are available at Barney’s. Creating jewelry since 1998, Suzanne is certainly not new to the scene, but we hope to see a lot more of her work on the red carpet this awards season. And in our jewelry boxes after our next birthdays.
