It has been awhile since we sponsored something, but we are getting back in the game and kicking it off with a TED Conference at UMassAmherst in Massachusetts, which is happening on campus April 14th. If you are not familiar with TED, it is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, where the world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives. Yet, the fun will begin on April 4th, which starts the "Ten Days of TED" campaign. The first event is called Paper Mirrors: A Live Audiovisual Experience and it will feature the following:
-A performance by Delicate Steve who has been featured on NPR, Pitchfork, Stereogum
-A performance by Hokes, New Jersey beatmaker, accompanied by members of the UMass orchestra, concert band, and percussion ensemble
-Live visuals for Hokes' performance of his recent EP, 'H e a d G a m e s'
-"Message in a Bottle" installation, by Hokes
-A documentary premier featuring Delicate Steve, produced by The Brio Life
-An art gallery featuring the winners of the TED Art Contest, Ticket Giveaway
-Multiple origami artists
-Special cell phone collage installation
Granted, we are located in Pennsylvania, but when they reached out about this I found it to be a cool idea and a great opportunity for any readers in the Massachusetts area to check out something music related.
