SPIbelt Review

By Fitfulfocus @fitfulfocus

Is it Friday? I’ve been slammed at work lately, working through the weekends and all that jazz, so I’m struggling to keep track of the days – but if today is indeed Friday, it’s time for the Fit & Fashionable Friday Link Up!

As you all know, I’ve been running a ton of races lately. In attempts to PR, I didn’t want to have to schlep my handheld water bottle with me. I know it doesn’t really add all that much weight, but it’s a pain to carry, especially for longer races. I could put everything in my awesome Armpocket Armband, but it would be hard to get my fuel out of there for longer runs. I’d have to take the whole band off, unzip it, get out my fuel, eat my fuel, put back in the band, zip it back up, and put it back on my arm. Ain’t nobody got time for that on the road to a PR.

Long story short – I was searching for a new way to carry all my stuffs when SPIbelt reached out to me. Perfect timing!

SPIbelts (Small Personal Item Belts) are basically like more flattering fanny packs that can discretely stash all your stuff while you run (phone, keys, fuel, ids, money – you name it). Yup, runners are bringing fanny packs back in style! Look at us fashionistas!

Anywho, I picked out the SPIbelt with Water Resistant Pocket and Gel Loops in black and hot pink (to match this hurr blog!). The pocket expands to 7” x 3” x 2” and the band has six loops for gels/chews. The pocket doesn’t fit my iPhone 6 with its big clunky case, but it fits pretty much everything else. I stashed my keys, id, credit card, cash, and an energy bar in the pocket and put my gels in the loops.

I was nervous I would find the belt annoying and the gels wouldn’t stay in the loops, but I was very very wrong. I didn’t notice the belt AT ALL as I ran, and the gels stayed in place but were also easy to pull out when needed.

I even put some chews in a Ziploc bag and they stayed in the loops! Not very attractive, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

I definitely think this will become my go-to fuel-stashing device for long runs, and I might have to look into the one that you can clip your bib number to!
