Soya Keema Masala" is the result of my undying love for Keema (minced mutton/chicken) cooked in the Indian way. I can eat keema at-least once a week. Sounds crazy right! But obviously it's not that healthy specially the red meat so I can not eat it every week. Also I have been advised by my doctor to increase my protein intake so I have been thinking about ways to increase the protein intake without relying to much on chicken and eggs.

And then I recalled the time, almost 10 years back when I went to one of my distant relatives home and they served this amazing "Soya Keema Masala" for the lunch.It was just amazing and it was hard for me to believe that it was just soya chunks; which by the way was my least favorite ingredient. So taking inspiration from that dish I decided to cook my own version of "Soya Keema Masala". My husband who almost hates soya chunks loved the dish so I can safely say that this experiment turned out to be a success.

Key to cooking this recipe is right timing for adding each ingredient and give it ample time to cook otherwise the raw taste of soya is going to spoil the whole dish. Its very important to cover and cook the dish during the last few minutes. And when it comes to spices, you can always increase or decrease the amount as per your liking. You can also try adding some green peas just like the regular keema recipe. Hope you guys love it as much I did.

Soya Keema Masala- A Protein Loaded Vegetarian Entrée

2 Cups Soya Chunks

1 Onion, Medium, Chopped

2 Tomatoes, Medium Pureed

3 Green Chilies,Chopped

1 Black Cardamom

5-6 Black Peppercorns

½ inch Cinnamon Stick

1 Teaspoon Ginger-Garlic Paste

1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder

1 Teaspoon Coriander Powder

1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder

1-1/2 Tablespoon Garam Masala Powder (Whole Spice Powder)

1 Tablespoon Lime Juice
