Southwest Skies [Sky Watch Friday]

By Shattman
This image is a B&W version of a color slide originally generated in 1978 on an American Airlines flight approach to the Salt Lake City airport. Decades later, after all my slides had been stored in plastic VisFile pages, they accumulated all kinds of schmutz.  I discovered that when I went digital and began scanning selected images [creating TIFF files]. I really liked this particular shot, and over the last several years I kept tweaking it, first in Photoshop Elements, trying to clean it up, remove a color cast, and deal with a few other problems. I was never fully satisfied with the color and, recently, I experimented with making a B&W conversion in Lightroom [which has become my preferred editing app]. This is what you see here, although I don't think this is its final form. Maybe some day I’ll be finished with it ... lol ...

The image below was shot digitally in Sedona, AZ. Following a brief but heavy rain, we ventured out onto the balcony of our room. Against the still dark and ominous sky was this rainbow. This is one shot that will not be converted to B&W!
