As we head into the weekend and round 3 we introduce yet another Saskatchewan native, Kalsey Kulyk.  Kalsey, who now calls Calgary Alberta home, was born in July 1990 in Hudson Bay Saskatchewan is a newcomer to the Canadian Country Music Scene.  A natural entertainer from birth, at the age of 4 her family was already encouraging her to perform in talent shows and singing competitions. It’s clear that Kalsey has never really wanted to do anything else but sing.  Unfortunately greatness doesn’t come without setbacks and in 2008, living in Alberta, she was diagnosed with Hodgekins Lymphoma. For many this would mean the end of the dream but not for Kalsey. Almost like the lyrics out of a country song, six months of support from her family, intense treatment and tacky wigs led to complete remission and a renewed clarity for songwriting.  An introduction to Richard Dashut, co-producer of Fleetwood Mac, at the age of 18 would set the wheels in motion on her career and change Kalsey’s life forever.

“Kalsey’s honest, heartfelt lyric combined with both a positive and sometimes hauntingly sad melodic intuition was reminiscent of 40 years past. You see, about 40 years ago, I met Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks and knew immediately their music would have an impact on peoples lives someday. No one could’ve known that two years later, they would accomplish that in the band Fleetwood Mac. In some strange and wonderful way, the hardships have become a beacon of beauty to Kalsey Kulyk, a person I am so very proud to be associated with.”  - Richard Dashut, Co-producer of Fleetwood Mac.

The curtain rises on Kalsey’s career as a Canadian Country Music recording artist with the debut of her first single: “With You“.  If you like what you hear Kalsey’s debut EP, Pt. 1, is now available in iTunes!

So will Madeline Molero take a third straight round or will Kalsey show the same never say die attitude and move into the defender spot? Voting starts now and runs until Monday April 7 at 5pm EST.
