Something I’ve Learned While Living Here, 2

By 1258miles @1258miles

“It’s summer but you can’t recall the last time you saw the sun. In fact, you don’t even remember to think of the sun because it’s been so long since you last saw it. However, now the sun has come out for the odd five minutes and everybody is out. The young and the old, the cats and the dogs. Parks are filled with people in their shorts and tops, they’re eating ice cream to celebrate this big, bright stranger in the sky. It’s about 16,5 Celsius degrees. A beer manufacturer launches a new campaign: a free pint for everyone every time the temperature rises over 20 Celsius degrees. And of course, there is an app for this available. Social media -obsessed nation has filled Twitter and Facebook with sun-related posts within 60 seconds.

The sun has now realized it’s not supposed to be here but your friend has turned as red as a clown’s nose. For a while you think it’s a sun burn, then you remember: It’s actually called tan here. The summer is over before we knew it started but we all remember those 5 minutes and the red faces for the whole year, and we can’t wait for the next appearance of the sun. In fact, we’re actually in the parks already, waiting. “

By the end of last summer, the beer manufacturer had made a 100 % profit with their campaign of free pints.
