So I Went To The Glossier London Pop-Up…

By Winyeemichelle
At the weekend, something incredibly exciting happened in the beauty world: Glossier announced a last-minute pop-up in London at their one-day-only studio. Oh yes. It appeared to be a very well-kept secret, shared on their Instagram Stories (follow them @glossier here) with a hidden ‘Swipe up’ registration link. Social media gold dust.
And… I went!
Glossier is the brainchild of Emily Weiss, founder of Into The Gloss and basically online beauty guru of them all. Launched in 2015, the line consisted of just three products - the Milky Jelly Cleanser, the Priming Moisturiser and Balm Dotcom. Since then, the brand has become cult amongst millennials, its packaging a marketing dream and its subject matter of all the substance. The hype has been almost annoying. Almost. Up until a week ago, I debated the hype myself so the pop-up came at excellent timing.
My friend - and fellow blogger! - Hannah and I already had plans and so we adjusted them in order to hit up Baker Street ready for 11am. I arrived at a beastly 10.15am and even ended up on the Glossier Instagram! If that isn’t an immediate claim to fame, I don’t know what is. The deal was that the team were setting up camp from 11am to 4pm with the full range available to try and those elusive pink pouches available to take home afterwards. Whilst I was mildly disappointed at the thought of being unable to buy Boy Brow, Milky Jelly Cleanser and Cloud Paint, all of those thoughts quickly disappeared when I opened up my pouch.

Milky Jelly Cleanser

Let’s start with my absolute favorite and the one product that I was positively dying to sample: their Milky Jelly Cleanser. The creamy gel formula is gratifyingly thick and works on both dry and damp skin, perfect for however you personally prefer to cleanse. It is recommended to remove waterproof eye make-up with your preferred eye cleanser first, although I’ve found it wipes my Majolica Majorca Lash Secret Long mascara off with no qualms and that is a SERIOUSLY heavy duty mascara! Sulphate-, paraben-, soap- and cruelty-free, this is a no-fuss, good things cleanser and I genuinely, hand-on-heart love this product already. It leaves my skin fresh, clean and silky smooth (according to my OH!), plus is great for a post-city, post-commute cleanse, if you know what I mean.

Haloscope - Quartz

Next up: Haloscope. This stick highlighter was widely talked about in the queue and I hadn’t really earmarked it as a *must try* but I’m now smitten. I’m a huge fan of dewy, glowy skin and giving my complexion a youthful look so this was something I whacked straight on my face on Sunday, right after the pop-up. Quartz is pegged as a ‘a universally flattering, pearlescent highlight’ and it certainly is for me. It’s a dual-delivery style product: the outer halo is infused with genuine crystal extracts, whilst a solid oil center delivers hydration. I swiped it on with a semi-firm hand (LOL) along my cheekbones and brow bone and blended with my fingers before running into my sister’s room shouting: ‘I’M MAJESTIC, LOOK AT ME’. It’s that good. The result is the sheen of Instagram models and unicorn tears mixed with Patronuses and other sparkly things not out of place in Diagon Alley. Haloscope is available in three shades but Quartz stole my heart when I swatched it in the showroom and commandeered it when I found it in my pouch. 12/10, would recommend.

Boy Brow - Clear

The other product on my ‘Must Try’ list was Boy Brow but I can’t help but feel a little underwhelmed by it now that it’s in my possession. I’ve never been a brow gel girl and this hasn’t really elevated my brow routine or revolutionised it at all. The clear formula offers hold and conditioners to keep your brow hairs soft - perhaps I’d fare better with the pigmented version to better define my brows? I’m unsure, the jury is still out on this one.

I sampled all of the products in the existing range on Saturday and my wishlist has DOUBLED. Next on my list? I’m hankering after the Cloud Paint, Super Glow serum, Generation G, Super Bounce and Moisturising Moon Mask. Bring it on.
Rumour is that Glossier lands on UK shores in September/October 2017; be sure to follow them on Twitter and Instagram for a whole lot of beauty inspo and, of course, to stay on the pulse.
