Snowpoet’s latest alternative-folk single, ‘Mermaid’, leads us down a babbling brook with more of their unique blend of poetry and song. The delightfully layered track opens with swimming synths before award winning vocalist, Lauren Kinsella’s soothing voice take center-stage as she combines softly spoken-words, whispers and song as crystal clear as the water of the track’s imagery. Chris Hyson’s expertly layered backing rhythms create a wonderfully deep sound-world, providing the perfect platform for the tune, with pattering percussion, lingering synths and a playful piano riff. Taken from the pair’s forthcoming album, if this track is anything to go by the sky’s the limit for Snowpoet.
