Smoothies...Endless Possibilities!

By Karenvanzant @KarenVanZant
I love smoothies. They're quick and easy, and I drink them a lot for breakfast. I sometimes make them the night before in case I'm in a hurry in the morning. (Just keep them overnight in the fridge. You can freeze smoothies but if you keep them in the fridge they'll last overnight without having to thaw out) There are no set rules to making smoothies, all you need is a blender and your imagination. I love to use frozen fruit in smoothies, but when I don't have any on hand, fresh fruit works just as well. This recipe is for a fresh-fruit smoothie. Feel free to add or change the fruit combinations to whatever you like or have on hand!
Blueberry-Banana Smoothie:
What you'll need:
A blender!
1 Banana
1 Cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup skim milk
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp orange juice
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup ice
Just blend all the ingredients until smooth & enjoy! This will make 2-4 servings, depending on what you consider a "serving." I use a huge glass, so I probably drink more than what the average serving is supposed to be!
Smoothies...Endless Possibilities!
A quick note- the whole point of smoothies is to drink something semi-healthy, so I try to use ingredients such as honey in order to sweeten things up, rather than using sugar. But that's the great thing about smoothies, play around with the ingredients until you find the right combo for your tastes!
