Sloane Square: The Saturday Street

By Lwblog @londonwalks

The Saturday Street is our NEW weekly series in which we unlock the stories behind the names of London's famous thoroughfares. It's compiled by London Walks guide Karen – listed by Travel + Leisure magazine as The World's Greatest Tour Guide. You can find Karen on Saturdays guiding her Old Westminster and British Museum walks. If you've got a London street query or suggestion, email Karen at the usual address
Sloane Square SW1

Location: The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea
Named for Sir Hans Sloane whose family owned the land at the time of development in the 1770’s. Sir Hans leaves fingerprints elsewhere in London with his personal collection forming the bedrock of the British Museum.

See Sloane Square every Sunday night on the Old Chelsea Village Pub Walk.
