Slice of Life Comedy One Year Anniversary with the Beards of Comedy

By Citizenthymes @citizenthymes

Slice of Life Comedy is celebrating it’s one year anniversary in a big way tomorrow night. Slice of Life presents Comedy Central’s Beards of Comedy at The Orange Peel.

Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and the show starts at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased here.

From the Beards of Comedy Bio:

The BEARDS OF COMEDY tour is quickly becoming one of the hottest shows in the U.S, showcasing four of the funniest, freshest  and bearded  faces in comedy.

Andy Sandford (Aqua Teen Hunger Force), Joe Zimmerman (Rooftop Comedy’s Golden Shingle Award nominee), TJ Young (Adult Swim’s Squidbillies) and Dave Stone (2012 CMT Next Big Comic Semifinalist) deliver an original brand of humor that’s deeply rooted in stand-up and lightly blended with avant-garde elements of music, sketch and improv. Offering a smart, quirky and refreshing twist on a traditional comedy show, the Beards frequently tour the country and currently host the popular Beards & Friends show at New York City’s The Creek and the Cave. Offstage, short films including “The Fan,” “Help,” and “Basketball” have amassed thousands of hits, with “Breakfast Banditos” even receiving feature placement on the front page of FunnyOrDie.com.

Be on the lookout for Beards of Comedy members during the day Thursday as they will be shooting a video for MSN in Asheville. Joe Zimmerman mentioned on his Facebook page that he was looking for Asheville Brewery workers. Here is the latest Beards Across America video, which was shot in San Fransico, offering alternatives to pork as a food source due to the impending pork shortage.

Zimmerman makes regular stops in Asheville and has appeared both at The PULP and the LAB in recent months. Joe is very witty and his obssesion with animals and how they could possibly kill him is hysterical.  Zimmerman this year has also been touring with acclaimed comedian Maria Bamford. Here is a clip of Zimmerman performing:

The rest of the Beards of Comedy I have not seen perform yet. But I’m particularly excited to see Dave Stone. Stone’s life as a comedian was recently captured by Scott Moran in the mini-doc series Modern Comedian. Here is the episode where we find out Stone lives in his van by choice in order to focus on stand up:

Stone was a semifinalist in CMT’s Next Big Comic. Here is a clip of Stone performing:

Joing the Bears of Comedy on stage will be local comedians Peter Smith McDowell, Cody Hughes, and host Comedian Kelly Row.
