Skincare Saviours for the Cold Snap.

4 essentials to introduce to your current routine.
One of my favorite pleasures to take from the cold snap each November is the opportunity to bring out some of my lesser-used beauty goodies. Brisk chills and blustery winds at this time of year mean that the delicate skin on your face takes a beating but there’s still plenty that you can do to salvage this. Think of your skincare arsenal acting as a shield against the elements and you’ll begin to see the perks of a multi-step skincare routine.
My own skincare routine currently consists of four products in the morning and up to eight in the evening. I’m lucky enough to have Normal skin that tends to get a little on the dry side (primarily because of lack of water intake), and these are my skincare saviours that amp it up for me each evening.
MORNING:
CLEANSER > EXFOLIATOR > TONER > EYE CREAM > MOISTURISER > 1 DROP OF SERUM IN MAKEUP BASE
EVENING:

MAKEUP REMOVER > CLEANSER > EXFOLIATOR > TONER > ESSENCE > EYE CREAM > SHEET MASK/NIGHT CREAM > OIL

Aesop’s Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream (60ml, £35)

Since picking up my first post of this back in 2014, I’ve never looked back. Whilst this can often be too much in the summer for me, it’s perfect for the colder months. Its texture butter-smooth and whipped to a light mousse, this moisturising cream features a blend of nut and plant extracts to richly nourish and hydrate. I find it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a tacky feeling, making it perfect to apply before makeup. Throughout the winter, I struggle with dry and/or cheeks and, fortified with camellia nut oil and camomile oil, this moisturiser does a great job at soothing things right up. It’s a touch on the pricier side but totally worth every penny!
Cruelty-free; vegan- and vegetarian-friendly.

The Saem's Cell Renew Bio Micro Peel Soft Gel (160ml, approx. £16)

A Korean beauty cult favourite, this exfoliator is the most gentle one I’ve ever used, making it incredibly useful for more regular use. I travel to London and back twice weekly and find that this does a great job at revitalising my skin, buffing away dead skin cells to reveal a softer, clearer and more translucent complexion. It smells of jasmine tea and something else that I can’t quite put my finger on, using a peeling system to removes dead skin cells and impurities. Used morning and evening twice or thrice a week, my skin is a happy little chicken.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (30ml, £37)

You’ve probably heard everybody in the blogging world wax lyrical about this little vial - and for good reason! Any time that I’m complimented on my skin in the mornings, it’s down to this little one. Two or three drops each evening massaged upwards into the skin quenches my skin’s thirst (you won’t even be able to see the first throes of skin dehydration) and brings a beautifully radiant glow to my complexion that nothing else can live up. Sometimes I add a drop to my makeup base if I’m after a dewier finish - multi-purpose! It’s also made up of 99.8% naturally derived ingredients and smells insanely good. An all-round winner.

Bourjois’ Java Rice Powder (3.5g, £9.99)

The first time I picked up this finishing powder was purely based on aesthetic. I never used powder and was pretty determined to have this pot on my dressing table, you know, for the ‘gram. Fast forward a couple of years and I’m on another new pot. I just bloody love it. The powder is ‘delicately scented’, a feather-light powder that smooths the complexion with a velvety finish and gives a shimmery look about the skin. Whilst many shun that shimmer, it’s become somewhat of my signature look and brings life to my complexion on these greyer days.
Not tested on animals.
