Six including anti-Taliban militia head killed in Buner suicide blast

At least six people including a regional head of a pro-government militia created to fight Taliban militants and his three bodyguards were killed in suicide blast in Buner, official said on Saturday.

According to Police, a suicide attacker riding a motorcycle collided with the vehicle of Fateh Khan, an ex-Awami National Party (ANP) leader, near his office.

“So far, we can confirm reports of six people being killed in the suicide bombing. The bomber, who was riding a motorcycle, targeted the vehicle of Fateh Khan,” said police spokesman Noor Habib.

Security forces cordon off the area immediately and launched search operation. The rescuers rushed the dead bodies and injured to a nearby hospitals.

Soon after the attack, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan claimed the responsibility of the suicide blast saying Khan was targeted for leading an armed resistance against the militants.

Buner was stronghold of Taliban militants till army launched an operation to scrub them out of the area in 2009.

Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti strongly condemned the bomb blast and expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives. Hoti said the militants cannot shake the resolute of government against terrorism with such cowardly acts.
