Six Dollars & A Dream...
While I was on Instagram tonight I saw a post from one of my followers about her being grateful for her last $6.00 that she had to put in her gas tank; her post took me back in time... Let me start by telling you a little bit about this girl.
We started communicating online while she was single and pregnant reading my blog. After following her on Instagram I realized that we were more similar than I could ever imagine. We were both single during our pregnancies, we both have daughters, and we're both Pisces who managed to stay sane through all of the bullshit. We even colored our hair pink at the same time which was crazy because we are in two total different states. Anyway, I am very connected to this girl who I have never met and I have so much faith in her.
But back to her $6.00 story... I will call this girl Kia since she reminds me of myself so much. Kia's daughter is only 2 months old and unlike me she can already see the beauty in her last $6.00. That tells me that Kia is already better than me. When Zahara was 2 months I wasn't there yet. If I was on my last $6.00 I was stressed, I wasn't grateful for the fact that I had that $6.00 as well as a warm roof over me and my daughters head. Kia is not your ordinary single "baby mama" this girl is special. I hate to know what she is going through some of the things that I went through 5 years ago, but I know for a fact that she is strong enough to handle it all. I may have been her inspiration while she was pregnant but what Kia doesn't know is that she inspires me. When I am feeling down or stressed I have to think of all the Kia's in the world and remind myself that we're too blessed to be stressed. Somewhere in the world there is a woman pushing her baby in a stroller (the way I did Zahara) while Kia is blessed to put her last $6.00 in her gas tank and make it home safely. Kia... you make me proud! :)
