Silliness and Tantrums – Reasons My Kid is Crying Competition

By Mummyoftwo @RaspberryGiggle

OK so this post may not be everyone’s cup of tea – no-one likes to see a child genuinely upset, me included.  I hate to see my little ones upset when they are ill or in pain.

Sometimes though the Little A’s have tantrums for some really ridiculous reasons and I do have to laugh (otherwise I may sit and cry with them!).  Take this example below.  Little Mr A was having a tantrum because we wouldn’t let him eat one of our chocolates….

No harm came to him in the making of this film!  He had just finished nursery, he was tired and he was cross because he couldn’t get his own way!

I have plenty of photos of me when I was little crying for no apparent reason (although, conveniently, I don’t have any to hand right now!).

Inspired by the silly reasons his child cried, Greg Pembroke posted pictures on his Tumblr account of his three-year-old son mid-tantrum and alongside them, the reasons he was crying, e.g. he had broken his bit of cheese in half.

Within a week the pictures had gone viral, being featured on lots of news, radio and television websites around the world.  Greg then went on to take submissions from other people and, following on from this has created a new book, Reasons my Kid is Crying.

The book collects together the photos Greg has been sent, documenting the silly reasons children cry including, I wouldn’t let him outside in Daddy’s shoes and I pretended my hand was a phone.

One of the main reasons for creating the book was to remind parents everywhere that they are not alone, and that a lot of toddler tantrums are to be laughed off (otherwise we would all go crazy!).

If you would like to win a copy of the book (which would make a great stocking filler for any parent struggling with toddler tantrums!) all you have to do is tell me the best reason your child has had a tantrum.  If you want to include a photo or video then please feel free!  Please either post on my Facebook page or tweet me @RaspberryGiggle.  The entries will be judged by Greg who will then pick a winner for the book!  Entries close at midnight on 23rd November 2013.  I’m looking forward to hearing all about the silly reasons your children cry!
