Side Table Redo

This little old, beat up side table captured my attention right away at an estate sale that Britt and I went to. Funny, it was actually called a “hoard” sale. There were probably over 500 creepy dolls. It was interesting to say the least.

I knew this table could be made new again. And at $10 I was sold.

This is what sold me. I absolutely loved that it had drop down leafs on both sides.

Honestly, I was so excited about the table that I didn’t really check out the feet. Once I got it in the car, I noticed that they were completely rotten. It ended up being an easy fix. I used my jigsaw and just cut them off. You would never even be the wiser that there used to be feet on there!

I gave her a light sanding and then brought her inside to paint.

After three coats of white paint and a light sanding of all the edges, she was all finished!

Can you see the crack on the leaf support? Unfortunately before I ever started painting it slammed against the side and broke smooth off. To repair it I used some wood glue and tightened a belt around it to hold it in place. It seems to be holding up just fine but I’m a little nervous about putting anything on it in fear that it will collapse!

It makes the perfect little “entry” table.

It’s the perfect table to set my purse. I also like that it adds a place for someone to put their drink on that side of the couch. I also use this table to  eat on while sitting on the couch or if I have company. She’s not perfect, but I think it’s the perfect addition to my apartment!
