tolerated by most patients. People with Type 2 diabetes are not able to produce enough insulin or use the insulin they have to adequately manage their blood sugar.

Usually, Type 2 diabetes follows a pre-diabetes stage and is caused by both genetic and environmental factors. There is a definite link between obesity and the onset of Type 2 diabetes. Actos works to allow the body to utilize the insulin naturally present by making the body almost hypersensitive to insulin. If you have just started to take the medication, you should familiarize yourself with the possible Actos side effects to keep yourself safe.

Common Actos Side Effects

The common Actos side effects are well tolerated by most people. They may be a source of mild discomfort but are typically nothing to worry about. However, if these common Actos side effects last for a long time or chronically return, you should make sure to mention them to your doctor. The common Actos side effects are:

  • Increased infections (anywhere)
  • Mild sore throat
  • Headaches
  • Weight gain (non dramatic)
  • Teeth problems such as soreness, increase in cavities or loose teeth

Uncommon Actos Side Effects

There are some uncommon Actos side effects that should be reported immediately to your doctor. While these Actos side effects can indicate a serious reaction to the medication, they may also indicate an unrelated condition. The uncommon Actos Side Effects include:

  • Blood in the urine
  • Skin rashes, itching/hives, swelling of face, lips, or tongue
  • Increase in fractures
  • Blurred or dim vision
  • Dark urine
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Dizziness
  • Increased Urination (frequency and volume)
  • Fever, chills, sore throat
  • Low blood sugar
  • pain when urinating
  • Muscle soreness/pain
  • Dramatic weight gain
  • Unusual fatigue
  • Swelling of the ankles, feet, hands
  • Yellowing of eyes/skin

When are Actos Side Effects Too Much?

If you experience any of the uncommon Actos side effects you need to talk to your doctor immediately. If you have some of the more common side effects over a prolonged period of time, you should mention it to your doctor but they do not constitute an emergency. The rule of thumb to follow when trying to determine if the Actos side effects you are experiencing are too much is to go with your instinct.

Actos should be helping you to manage your Type 2 diabetes and help you live your life. You should not have such an increase in suffering from Actos side effects that it begins to interfere with your life. If you feel off or unable to perform your normal habits and routines, see your doctor. Never stop taking a medication on your own, especially if that medication is to treat Type 2 diabetes.

If your blood sugar is left unmanaged even for a day or two you could encounter serious complications and even death. If you are very concerned or have a sudden onset of uncommon Actos side effects you should go to an emergency room and let them switch you over to a new mediation immediately.

Treatment Methods for Actos Side Effects

The common and uncommon Actos side effects could be treated with other medications if they are not too serious. However, the serious ones like bladder cancer is always treated through surgery. The tumor or tumors are surgically removed during a transurethral resection of bladder tumor. As the tumors are likely to recur, you are likely to be prescribed intravesical bladder chemotherapy or immunotherapy to make it impossible for them to recur.
