Shura, The Julie Ruin, The Avalanches

As the 4th of July rang in the summer’s hottest month with a bang, we are again graced with new releases to match the heat! Shura’s debut album, Nothing’s Real, has already received great acclaim, filled with nostalgic 80s synth pop and observations on love and heartbreak. Young jazz act BadBadNotGood has returned with IV, interweaving soulful instrumental with cool collaborations with artists such as Mick Jenkins and Samuel Herring, while Scottish punks Biffy Clyro have released, Ellipsis, a chaotic album laden with heavy guitar riffs. Last but not least, Former Bikini Kill frontwoman Kathleen Hanna has graced us with The Julie Ruin’s second album, Hit Reset, a suitable title as Hanna has described the album as a way of letting go, especially when it comes to the music, allowing the albums sonic style to unfold organically. Stay cool, and be sure to follow our top release playlist to be updated on all of the hot new tracks!
