Shellac Nails

shellac

Nails is not usually a subject I choose to blog about. My job does not allow me to wear nail polish so it’s very rarely I get to experiment with nail polish other than when I am on holidays. Another downside to my job is I have to keep my nails short (as you can see in the picture. Recently I decided to give shellac nails a go. I am super low maintenance when it comes to nails so I was curious to see how shellac nails would work for me. I liked the idea of it’s longevity and decided to put it to the test.

I opted for CND shellac nails and decided to get it done professionally. Shellac is of course more expensive than regular polish application however the results are more long lasting. The application cost me $40 and and lasted approximately 2 weeks. The polish itself was still looking great after 2 weeks (with only very minimal chipping to my index finger) however it was the growing out that started to look a little ratty and why I removed it. I removed it myself using an acetone nail polish remover, it took a bit of time but better than paying for it to be removed.

Shellac will be a nice special occasion treat for me. If you are going on holidays this is a great option. The results are long lasting and negates the need to take polish/remover etc away with you. The downside for me is the price but like I said it’s a nice treat. You can get many DIY kits online these days which I have not tried myself however if you’re into doing your nails this could be a more cost effective option.

Have you tried shellac?
