An article in The Post reports many Israelis wished former PM Ariel Sharon dead for his policy regarding the removal of Israeli settlements from the Gaza Strip in August 2005 in hopes of peace. But what needs to be remembered is that any peaceful and rational nation-state, according to International Law, cannot conquer lands (like during the 1967 war) and develop settlements on it. The lands must be returned to the vanquished.
American’s did not build illegal settlements in Japan or Germany following WWII.
