National Comic Book Day
- In 1837 there came a small, seemingly inconsequential shift in the way stories were told. Obadiah Oldbuck was drawn into existence as a series of sequential pictures with text captions. Originally created with the purpose of being a diversion for the creator and his friends, but unexpectedly, it became incredibly popular in both the US and France. Considered the first comic, Rodolphe Töpffer is often considered the father of the genre. Comic Book Day honors this man and everything that has come to follow from that first humble publication. One-Hit-Wonder Day
- A one-hit wonder is a person or act known mainly for only a single success. The term is most often used to describe music performers with only one hit single.
UNO Card Game Debuted
- The game was originally developed in 1971 by Merle Robbins. The game's general principles put it into the Crazy Eights family of card games.
National Crab Newburg Day
- If you love crabs and want to try something new, today is the day to try out this tasty dish. Bon appetite!
World Ataxia Awareness Day
- Ataxia describes a lack of muscle coordination during voluntary movements, such as walking or picking up objects. A sign of an underlying condition, ataxia can affect your movements, your speech, your eye movements and your ability to swallow.
National Food Service Employees Day
-- Founded in 2012 as a means to promote the profession, which often has a negative stigma. Many people experience emotional difficulty at some point in their lives, and one quarter will experience mental illness. It can be beneficial to talk to someone, especially a trained professional. Getting help can be an effective, natural, and long lasting treatment to help many lead more fulfilling lives.
Math Storytelling Day
-- Celebrate this day by making up math stories. Math stories can include numbers, logic, patterns, puzzles, relationships, fictional characters, and history. You could also make up songs and jokes!
