It’s been ages since Samsung first announced its Tizen-based phone (in 2013), but now the device is finally here.
Tizen already powers a couple of Samsung’s wearable devices and Smart TVs, but this is the first phone to come with this particular OS. Samsung did announce the Samsung Z back in June 2014, but the phone never hit the market.
The Samsung Z1 is a low-end handset that offers a 4” screen, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 769MB of RAM, 4GB of storage (expandable thanks to the microSD slot), and a 3.1-megapixel rear camera. Other specs include a 1,500mAh battery and dual SIM support, and you will be able to get the phone in three colors: red, black, and white.
The set of specs is average, not too impressive, but the phone’s price matches the package: 5,700 rupees ($92). Samsung will also throw in up to 500MB of free 3G data per month for the period of 6 months.
The Samsung Z1 goes on sale today in India, but we are yet to find out whether it will arrive to other world markets.
