The Tim McCann-directed feature follows a bullied high school student who begins to have visions of a rabbit he killed when he was a child. The rabbit and other imaginary creatures turn menacing and urge him toward an act of revenge. The screenplay is Anthony Di Pietro’s first produced writing credit.

The film stars The Descendants’ Nick Krause, Britt Robertson of CBS’ Under the Dome and Sam Trammell, who appeared in the YA hit The Fault in Our Stars and True Blood recently ended a seven-season run on HBO’s True Blood. Ryan Lee, whose credits include Super 8 and This Is 40, rounds out the main cast.

It was produced by Robert Yocum of Burning Sky Films, Shaun Sanghani of SSS Entertainment and Jacky Lee Morgan. It had its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival in 2013, and it will be set for a winter theatrical day-and-date release in the U.S.

“White Rabbit is one of the most controversial, daring films in the last several years, and its social relevance is as significant as ever. We are thrilled to be working with Breaking Glass Pictures so audiences everywhere now have the chance to see what we believe is a must-see film,” said Sanghani in a statement.

Breaking Glass CEO Rich Wolff negotiated the deal with Michael Lurie of Automatic Entertainment, White Rabbit’s sales representative.
