Salt Island, BVI

After The Baths we had a sunset cruise over to Salt Island for a safe non rolly anchorage. The next morning we took the kids over to explore. I really liked the island, a. because it wasn’t swarming with charter boats and people and b. because there were some abandon buildings on it. I just love to sticky beak around. I think the island has turned into a bit of a party destination because of the odd broken beer bottle. My friends told me there was until quite recently a family that lived on the island. There’s a big salt lake behind the buildings that the families would process the salt and sell it. I don’t know why there wasn’t any salt in the lake whether it’s because it was over processed or the soil changed. Maybe that’s why the residents are gone. Salty at Salt Island
