Following in a similar path to the ever successful, Newcastle Restaurant Week, Sunderland are boasting a variety of eateries on board serving up £10 and £15 special menus for one week only (and conveniently the week my birthday falls on - how kind!) Sounds good right?

There's everything from pasta, to curry, to meat platters and burgers, cake takeaways (yes really) and even a range of cafés taking part during the day with a £5 offer covering the likes of a panini and a coffee, perfect if you want to get out the office during your lunch break!

I went along for a little preview of some restaurants taking part, in a safari supper style evening and trust me, you're in for a treat. If slow cooked ribs and big american style dishes are your bag, Café Purple is the place to go (and the cheeseboard we were served as 'nibbles' was incredible - I could've stayed there all night, but it was only our first stop!) Port Of Call serve up some lovely looking cocktails and seafood and it's conveniently right beside Café Purple, so you can always pop back in to enjoy their 2-4-1 cocktails on Fridays. Next time I'm leaving the car at home and having gin, Fri-yay indeed!

The Funky Indian tapas was really fun, with a seriously good selection on their menu to reflect the different dishes across India. Check out their deep fried cauliflower, you will not be disappointed. If you've got any food allergies, they've clearly display what's gluten free, veggie and vegan and can sometimes make specific dishes to suit your needs. I'm definitely heading back!

Tucked away in Sunniside is Angelos, serving up a range of delicious Italian dishes and also boasting a pretty impressive accolade. The English Italian 2015 Award Winning dish Strozzapreti con Salsiccia e Friarielli, and I've tasted that pasta and it's something special and an incredible price.

Being pretty full from all the previous courses, I grabbed dessert to go from Sweet Tooth Delivery. Picking a garish bright skittles cake that was every bit as sweet as you'd expect. What can I say, I was drawn to the bright colours but next time, I'll have to give the peanut butter one a go!

Check out the full range of restaurants taking part in Sunderland Restaurant Week from 24th September to 2nd October and let me know where you'd be heading!
