Ryder Supports #GivingTuesday for the Fifth Year in a RowOn Tuesday, November 29 th, employees from all Ryder locations across the United States participated by volunteering to support local charities of their choosing. This year, Ryder employees contributed to the global day of giving by volunteering across North America.

Activities included volunteering at local food banks, making bagged lunches, and conducting toy drives for local community centers. Ryder employees also volunteered at elderly centers and a variety of community outreach facilities in the U.S. with one common goal, to promote generosity and improve the communities where they work and live.

"Ryder's participation in #GivingTuesday was driven by our employees' desire to give back and make a meaningful difference," said Rich Mohr, Vice President, Ryder Rental Operations. "Now in its fifth year, the event has become a central focus during the holidays for many of our rental locations and presents an opportunity to engage our employees in a worldwide philanthropy phenomenon. Each year, our participation has increased, and the regions where our employees participate in #GivingTuesday have consistently expanded into new areas within the U.S. Seeing the great effort our employees put forth to make this a success and watching them exceeded all of our expectations each year is a testament to the importance our people place on making their communities ever better."

After two days for getting deals - Black Friday and Cyber Monday - #GivingTuesday is a day for giving back. In dozens of towns, cities, regions, and states, people embrace this day as an opportunity to raise money for local nonprofits, schools, and arts organizations; run food and clothing drives; teach children about philanthropy; encourage acts of kindness; collaborate with their neighbors; and celebrate generosity. In 2015, nonprofits raised more than $117 million online on #GivingTuesday to help make the world a better place in countless ways. Much more was generated offline and through donations of time and other resources. People participated in #GivingTuesday activities in 71 countries around the globe last year, and this year, participating countries included Australia, Brazil, Kenya, Slovenia, Tanzania, the UK, and more.
