The Disney Channel is in the early stages of developing Girl Meets World, a sequel series to the ABC sitcom Boy Meets World, according to TVLine.
The cable network is reaching out to the stars of the original series, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, to reprise their roles as childhood sweethearts Cory and Topanga.
The pair married before the end of the sitcom’s seven-season run, leaving plenty creative room for a sequel. Girl Meets World would focus on the couple’s preteen daughter.
There’s no official word on whether or not the series is happening. Fans have taken to Twitter in hopes of getting an answer out of Savage or Fishel.
On Oct. 24 @BrooklynDecker tweeted “Why is Boy Meets World trending?? Perhaps (dare I say) a reunion? Please tell me this is why” at both stars, and received a mixed response.
“You never know, Brooklyn
“Sorry, Brooklyn. I think it’s just trending because it’s on alllll day!” tweeted Fishel.
Savage may have missed the memo to keep the rumor under wraps. Then again, Fishel could be sincere in her rebuttal.
