Rules of the Road

I’m having a hard time writing about our trip, because that means that I’m reminiscing and the trip is truly over. We had the most incredible time. I couldn't have asked for a better road tripping crew either. Jared, Josh and Kim made the trip 1 million times better. One of the best parts about our group was that we have different interests, so we all were able to do things we would normally do.
In road trip life you wake up each day excited. You're in a new place every morning it feels like every day is the first day on vacation, you have no idea what is in store!
I made these 2 maps filled with all of our adventures, well not even all of them, but a lot of them! I need to get my camera and download all the photos to share with you all and give you more details on our incredible trip!
For now, I'll leave you with my general Road Tripping rules.
1. Don't over pack. I way over -packed. All you need are a few tops and shorts. No need to pack your whole closet, plus space is valuable on a road trip.
2. Plan on never having a good hair day. Just know in advance your hair will be up a lot.
3. It's hard to plan for different climates (it was different every day up the coast), so layer. A nice jacket will warm up the summeriest of outfits.
4. Plan TONS of things to do before hand. Jared, Josh, Kim and I had a huge list of things to do and we were able to stop and do most of them. It made the trip really entertaining. Instead of driving to a hotel each night, we were driving to an activity and just happened to find a hotel along the way :)
5. It's much cheaper if you split it. We split the car rental, gas, and hotel rooms which probably saved a couple hundred dollars.
6. If you're going with another couple, keep your receipts, so you can "even up" at the end.
7. Buy jugs of water, not water bottles. We were all so thirsty all the time. It was nice having a gallon of water instead of 10 water bottles filling up that valuable space.
8. If somewhere looks interesting - STOP! That's what a road trip is all about. Even if you're feeling lazy, just get out of the car and poke around. We found some of our favorite places by doing that.
9. Bring cash. We paid a few tolls and a few "attractions" that only accepted cash, like fresh cherries not the side of the road!
10.  If you're doing this road trip, bring some dramamine. We all got a little car sick going through the redwoods, that's the curviest road that I've ever been on and it's a solid 30 minutes of it. We had to pull over and get fresh air.
