When Ale told me that the tin cans where celebrating 200 years this year, I was surprised
I didn't realize it had been so long that people used food in tin cans!

there is an other even going on for some week's now, it is Joan's fabulous Culinary Tour around the world. I wanted to join but being very slow lately I missed the first trip to Panama so I thought I'd travel alone, that's fun too.
Looking for Panama recipes I come over this site, with some interesting things.
being me a very big cocktail lover, I just had to try this!!
the recipe is from Elle Bee
10 cans evaporated milk
24 egg yolks
3 ½ cups sugar
2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup water
2-3 cups rum
Add first five ingredients to a large pot (a double boiler is preferable).Use a mixer to mix ingredients together thoroughly in pot before heating. Cook on medium to low heat, stirring constantly. Allow mixture to cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until ingredients become thick live gravy.Remove mixture from heat. Add 1 cup of water and rum. Stir.Scoop liquid into mason jar or other jar with a lid. Note: Be sure to strain the liquid BEFORE you put it into the jars. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve. For best results, refrigerate overnight.
