Romance: Not Just For the Young

By Barbarajpeters @CouplesAuthor

Romance in Antigua I recently returned from a romantic vacation in Antigua.
Being the romantic that I am, I chose this destination with careful scrutiny because it boasted “the most romantic place in the world.” I looked at the pictures and read this enticing description:
Sandals Grand Antigua was voted the ‘World’s Most Romantic Resort’ year after year. It is located on Antigua’s best and most famous beach, Dickenson Bay. Here one can explore the Caribbean Grove, a charming seaside garden oasis graced by meandering pathways, majestic palms, and cooling Trade winds, or step into a realm of chic sophistication where European grandeur unfolds from the hillside to villas-by-the-sea… in the Mediterranean Village. Whatever you choose it is total relaxation on the silky-soft, pure white sand, where you can let the warmth of the Caribbean fill your senses, an easy way to create your own lover’s legend. But there is more. It went way above the scenery and eased your way into an attitude of pure romance.

After being there for a week, I would agree it certainly is “Destination Romance.” It is a fabulous place for any dreamy adventure. If you didn’t know what romance was before you came, you certainly knew it when you left. I expected that I would find a mostly young crowd, celebrating lots of weddings and honeymoons. And, yes, there were several weddings going on, and I am sure there were many honeymooners.
What I didn’t expect was to see people of all ages celebrating romance. One couple was celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Others were celebrating their love and letting the ambiance take over. Lovers were walking hand in hand, stealing away in a secluded hammock for two, reclining near the fire pit in a lounge made for two, walking on the beach in the moonlight, and having a nightcap in a private hot tub located right outside their patio door. A few couples were enjoying an ultimate, candlelight dinner for two on the beach. Of course the photographers, who seemed to be there just when you needed them to capture the moment, were abundant.

What I came away with was this:
Romance doesn’t grow old; it is forever. Look around! Observe carefully, and you will see it everywhere, burning brightly within the hearts of older folks as well as the young. Don’t wait! As a mature adult there may be many goals that you may think you need to achieve first, but pitch that list. You don’t need to find just the right spot on earth for romancing. You don’t need to take lessons in waltzing or get a hairpiece. You don’t need to spend a few years getting a perfect physique. It doesn’t matter if you no longer have all the energy it takes to make bedroom moves like in the movies. Whatever hurdles you have put in front of you, kick them down right now. Believe in becoming one with your sweetheart. Hunger for your honey. Close your eyes for a moment; the passion you feel for your partner can take over your being and set you as free to hotly desire each other as if you were still young. But fortunately now, you know what you’re doing.
What are you waiting for? If the music moves you, dance.
